I think I'll do an EP later, but this is to let you know that Gabe is officially back IG! I'm very excited to be back and hoping that I can manage my involvement better this time around.
This post is for plotting so if anyone wants to chat about connections between Gabe and their pup, please hit me up!
CHARACTER NAME: Gabriel "Gabe" Monroe.
CHARACTER AGE: 31 (aged up slightly from the last time I played him, if that's okay).
SPECIES: Human
BACKGROUND & HISTORY: Gabe was born in Siren Cove and he's never really managed to leave. His parents didn't have much money growing up - his dad, Jim, fished, his Ma, Eve, sewed and, as a teenager, Gabe had a variety of shitty jobs, just trying to help out. He mowed lawns, washed dishes, cleaned guttering - finally settling on painting and decorating as a good fit. He has an older sister, Gale, but she left town as soon as she could. Gabe did intend to leave Siren Cove when he turned eighteen - he was going to go to college to study history - but his dad died unexpectedly a few months before school was due to start and Gabe ended up being the one who kept the boat sailing. He'd spent enough time on the boat with his dad to know the business and, honestly, he doesn't hate it. There's a certain sort of peace involved of being out on the water, working with guys he's known his whole life. He still loves history, still thinks about leaving town. He still does the odd bit of house-painting from time to time.
Once upon a time, a few years ago, Gabe almost got married. He'd been with Abbie since high school and he honestly thought that it could work out - every one did. Course of true love never did run smooth, though, did it? Abbie left town. Gabe thought about following, but then his responsibilities bit him in the ass so he got stinking drunk and stayed. He never told his Ma or his brother what happened. He told almost nobody.
He's on the tail end of a few months away - one day, he woke up, got in his truck and just kept driving. He's been here and there, mostly by the sea and, returning, he's calmer than he was before. He's found his centre. So his life didn't work out quite the way he planned it - things don't always, do they? He knows that magic exists now, after thirty years of only believing in ordinary things.
So why not believe that other things could change?
PERSONALITY: After breaking up with Abbie, Gabe went through a rough patch. He was ornery and difficult, short-tempered, stubborn and definitely difficult to deal with. He's can still be very internal and introspective, with a tendency to withdraw. Still, he's loyal and kind. Loves deeply. He's known a lot of his friends since he was a kid - there's not many of them, but it's enough. By nature, Gabe is careful, detail orientated and precise - his decorating work and his art are both beautiful - but that sort of goes out of the window when he's drinking. He's gotten into more than one fight while under the influence - he's got a tendency to push his luck. He's not that great at self-preservation but a pretty sure-fire way to pull him back from the edge is to remind him that his Ma and Connor need him. That's usually enough.
He's not always easy to live with, until he's used to you. But, in the end, he's worth having around.
OPINION OF THE RIVALRY: Honestly, the rivalry makes Gabe roll his eyes. It's none of his business, right? Let them get on with it. He's got a boat to look after. To him, it was always just rich kids fighting - nothing to do with him. He might be more interested if he figures out that there's magic involved, though.
LIFESTYLE: Gabe lives in a little house in the harbour, three doors down from his Ma. Most days, he's out on the Ariadne; she was his dad's boat first. He still doesn't make a lot of money, but it's enough for him, with a little left over for his Ma. If Gabe's not down in the harbour then he can be found picking up the odd painting and decorating job, particularly in the winter. He likes a drink, so he can often be found in one of the town's bars. He's still friends with a lot of people he knew in high school. It's a simple life, but it suits him. He makes art, too - photography, drawings. He's never going to be a master, but he's pretty good. He likes to keep busy - his Ma always says that the devil loves to make work for idle hands.
POWERS & ABILITIES: Up until Davin let slip, Gabe wasn't even away of the magical nature of the cove. He's had a while to think about it, and he's going to have some questions, eventually, but, for now, he figures that what he doesn't know can't hurt him. He is entirely unmagical.

I feel like having been born and bred in Siren Cove, he and Mira would have an excuse to have bumped into each other? Her mom's an English teacher at the public high school and has been since before Mir was born, so he might know her, at least, even though Mira is about six years younger than him which is slightly more significant then than now.
He wouldn't have history with Auryn, but I feel like they could get along.
